Innocent hats (2)

I have somehow managed to delete the previous post.
Sigh.
However, just briefly, many of us are knitting little hats for Innocent smoothie bottles. When the bottles are sold by a supermarket, with hat, a sum of 25p goes to Age UK, a charity dedicated to helping older people.

I know that over several years over a million pounds has been raised.
I emailed Innocent to ask how much was raised last year, and they kindly sent me these facts.
2014 raised £215,000, enough for
40000 blankets
20000 hot meals
10000 emergency heaters.

It really makes knitting a few tiny hats worth while.

  1. Well done. Though I have to wonder why they can't just give the 25p per bottle to Age UK anyway with or without a hat. What happens to all the little hats I wonder?

  2. I wonder how far they travel - will my blue and yellow ones reach Cornwall? will your pink and blue ones get to Dorset? I found just sticking to 2 colours this year was a good move. I varied the stripes, but didn't have loads of little balls of wool rolling around.

  3. Wow! That's a lot of money going to a great cause. Your little hats are very cute and I'm sure they'll do well in the shops..and they would definitely make terrific egg cosies! Thanks for visiting me, Elizabeth. Blessings..Trish

  6. What an interesting idea. Your hats are so cute. I think they would help to sell more drinks... leading to more money donated!

  9. Hello Elizabeth,

your little hats are cute and what a wonderful derail amount of money they raised last year. I have recently been staying with my.DB and SIL and knitted 60 while I was there and am now just finishing making the little bobbles. I have gained a lot if help from Age UK so it is one way of repaying them and using up the oddments if wool I acquire.
    Enjoy the weekend,
