Closing.....

Dear friends,
I am not saying Adieu, just Au revoir for the moment.

My intention was to close this blog completely,it has been going since 2007, but I'm not sure that I want to let it go altogether. I have thought and prayed about this decision so much.

My husband's health fluctuates, he can be very frail at times, and my days are very much taken up with being near him. A week can be full of medical appointments, running from surgery to physio to hospital and so on. And at other times I am busy doing all the day to day householdey/gardeney things

I have found lately that it has been harder and harder to write, often because life doesn't change and I have nothing of interest to say. I think when the thought of writing a post becomes a worry, it is time to stop.

I will miss my contact with so many of you, but hope not to lose touch altogether.
Who knows, maybe one day a Phoenix-like new blog will appear.

  1. I understand Barbara. I have toyed with closing my blog for similar reasons. The writing and photography don't flow as they used to but I just can't bring myself to end it completely. I have you on my blog feed, so if you pop up now and again I will see it. Even an occasional post would be welcome! Best wishes and prayers for you and your dear husband continue my friend.

  2. I hear you. It's what was happening with me. And although I said I closed my blog, I couldn't actually make myself do it and still find I want to write occasionally (and then struggle with whether I should or not). So maybe we'll both be back at some point. I'll be keeping you on my blog list, so if you do post occasionally..... All the best for whatever the future holds for you and your hubbie.

  3. I know what you mean about having many things filling up your days, many of which cannot be set aside.

Blog posting continues to be a pleasure with me, as is reading posts such as yours that have acquainted me with lovely people I would not otherwise have met. I do hope that we might stay in touch, and that we all might just see another post from you from time to time.

Sending lots of love to you and yours. xo

  4. You will be missed but I think many of us can understand your reasons. I do hope that there will be times when you feel you want to post occasionally and if you ever feel you'd like to keep in touch by e-mail I think you have my address don't you? Bon courage and let's hope it's a bientot not au revoir. Take a little time for yourself whilst caring for your husband won't you? You and he will remain in my thoughts.

I know your heart and daily life is taken up with caring tenderly for your husband and I wish you great blessing and joy in the days ahead.

  14. I completely understand -- life happens! I will miss you as your blog has become a part of my daily life but it doesn't have to be permanent -- if you decided to return I will be right there ready to read. I wish you and your husband well and hopefully you will return at some point. If not, I believe you have my email address and would love to have you drop me a line to see how things are going. Be well and know that I am thinking of you.

  15. Barbara, I've been enjoying your blog a few years now. And our heart-connection is at the place where it doesn't matter if you have lots or little to say about things in your life, I'm always glad to see you!

What about a little blog post once in a blue moon ... just to say hi. And we can all come and say hi back. :)

Whatever you decide, know we have enjoyed this leg of your blogging journey with you. And we wish you His good grace for each new day.

Hugs and best wishes to you and your husband...

  24. It has been a true pleasure following your blog from your days in France to your move back to Cornwall, and you will be missed. My prayers will continue for both you and your husband. I am glad you are keeping the blog open even though not posting. It seems many have been doing so recently. May you find refreshment and peace in the daily hours as you care for your husband (and yourself too, I hope) and have no worries about what to post. Perhaps the day will come when there is something you want to share and it will again become a pleasure rather than a chore. In the meantime, may you be wrapped in the arms of God and just live each day as it comes. Blessings to you!

I haven't blogged for many months. I've tried a few times but had technical difficulties. I keep hoping to get back to it. I've never been as good at it as you, but you inspire me.

I will continue to pray for you. May the Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face shine upon you and give you peace.

  34. Dear Elizabeth - it was your encouragement on the first time we met that pushed me into writing a blog, so you are often in my thoughts when I write.
At first, I posted daily, with photographs and descriptions of my walks with Zac (my dog) on Bodmin Moor and other areas of Cornwall, but like you have found, when the same places are visited and descriptions of our walks become 'samey', it was better to post less regularly. But my blog has taught me to always carry a camera, so as not to miss a photo opportunity, and I do enjoy posting, so thank you for that, Elizabeth.
I do hope you will find time to post occasionally even if it's just a sentence and a photo of your lovely garden.
Wishing you and M all the very best - Rosemary xxxx

Don't let yours go completely - just post when you feel like it. After a long absence nothing feels worthy of blogging, you fear everything you do is mundane and boring to other people - but that's what life is like to us, but your readers will find it fascinating, just as a letter from you would have been in those long-ago days when the postman came daily and early enough for us to read the post over elevenses.
Hope to hear from you soon...
