Palm Sunday today.
Our talk in Church today asked us if we 'were following the crowd, or following the Cross'.
How quickly a crowd mentality can change.
The crowd that cheered Jesus as he rode in on the donkey soon turned against Him.
Following the crowd. Not wanting to seem different.
Going with the flow. Doing what my friends want to do.
Anyone dealing with children or young adults, in whatever profession, knows just how hard it is to encourage them on the right road, to bring them away from the temptations that may lead them into trouble, to gently direct them away from running with the crowd.
It's so easy to 'go along with your group'.
Harder to keep the Cross at the forefront of one's mind.
But so worth doing.
(Linking to Floss's Pause in Lent)

Amen. Amen. Good words, friend.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a blessed Holy Week.
ReplyDeleteSo very true. I believe it is harder than ever for our Christian young people to walk His way, there are so many pressures on them.
ReplyDeleteHi Elizabeth...:) Just checking your blog out and I am now following you as well. This post was just beautiful and such an important message. So many these days choose to follow the crowd...so sad. I will definitely be back to visit...:)

Life On Willie Mae Lane
Wise words indeed. xx
ReplyDeleteThis week I attended a women's retreat at which the topic was walking with Jesus. The word "with" is very important -- because it means we walk side by side. I won't get preachy on you, but I was very touched by your post.
ReplyDeleteA very Happy Easter to you and yours, xoxo
One of the reasons I stopped attending church was that I was following the crowd and was becoming detached from the Holy Spirit - despite being in a crowd of people who were all there for the same purpose! I miss the crowd and value the importance of a congregation, am wandering but have not lost my way.
ReplyDeleteSo true! Thank you for sharing and I hope you have a blessed Monday!
ReplyDeleteHugs to you,
Stephanie
