The sun shone this morning, and it seemed a good time to move my pots of herbs into a warmer position, all the way down the little garden path.
There are two types of mint, the 'ordinary' one which I use a lot for cooking, and a dark pepperminty one, nice with fruit salads.
Then I have French Tarragon and Thyme. Tarragon is a lovely herb to use with chicken or fish, or just added to a salad.
Everyone needs a pot of chives, to snip over potato salad. The dappled leaves of the Lemon Balm are so pretty.
Last but not least. a pot of Parsley and a slightly struggling Rosemary.
Those are my stand-by herbs, they go with so many dishes and are easy to look after. I once used to grow many different varieties, but haven't the room now.
Our 'daughter time' has ended now. She is flying out tonight from Cornwall to London, and then onward to Vancouver tomorrow. We have had such a good time together.
So glad you have had a great time together- I wish your daughter Godspeed as she flies home. xx
ReplyDeleteIt's always hard to see someone you love flying off after a great visit. Your pots look pleased to be in the sunshine. Herbs are such a great way to add flavour to dishes. I use the same ones you do, with the exception of tarragon, for which I've never developed much of a liking.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that you had such a good time with your daughter Barbara...and that you were blessed with a beautiful day to spend in your garden :0) mari
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping to get a little herb collection up and going again this summer. I do also miss having strawberries coming into white flower!
ReplyDeleteHow delightful that you were able to spend such sweet time with your daughter! I truly hope she has safe travels.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the weekend, my friend. Hugs!
Good Afternoon Elizabethd, It must have been wonderful to spend some time with your daughter. I do understand how you feel because my eldest daughter lives in India and I miss her so much.
ReplyDeleteYou have a wonderful selection of herbs and they are growing so well in the pots you have planted them in. When the sun comes out here in Newcastle, my plants sigh with relief.... it's much colder here.
Best Wishes
Daphne
I am so glad you had daughter time, now that I have one several hundred miles away, I know how special that time is. I love herbs, I usually grow as much basil as I can for pesto, and I love Rosemary, although I can only seem to keep it alive if I grow it outside. I am pretty sure God's help in watering makes the difference. ;>)
ReplyDeleteI like your herbs!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you had a nice visit with your daughter.

ReplyDeleteGlad you had quality time with your daughter. Herbs look promising, I have some too but they are struggling a bit as it's still quite cold here at night.
ReplyDeleteNice to see all your herbs, I also grow most of mine in pots, we have had awful weather the last few days, but all the herbs are really doing well. Its so nice to be able to pick them fresh and just add to your recipes.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a wonderful time with your daughter! Your herbs look lovely arranged along the edge of your path, and so easy to get to them when you want to add something to your cooking! xx

ReplyDeleteI like your selection of herbs. In our new garden, so far, there is just a barrel of Rosemary and Basil. I will have to get busy!
I love herbs, but I have never found a use for lemon balm and it is so invasive I had to get rid of mine!
ReplyDeleteHello Elizabeth,
ReplyDeleteI am glad you had a good time together. Herbs from your own garden are the best! I cherish my herb garden too.
Hello there! I love hearing of your herbs. We have marjoram, mint, parsley, Greek basil on our windowsill which are doing ok and I hope to plant more chives and other herbs in the garden. You have a lovely collection. I MISS lemon balm- I used to have a massive bush of it in my old garden and I do so enjoy the tea!!!x
