Garden growth.

There is such a feeling of anticipation at this time of year.

The Broad beans are full of flower, as yet not attacked by Blackfly.
I have picked the second bunch of Rhubarb from my two little plants....and made delicious Crumbles.
My one Gooseberry bush, growing in a large tub, is full of baby gooseberries!

In the greenhouse some of the Tomatoes have already got flowers on.
I always plant companion African Marigolds and have found that I don't have white or green fly on the tomatoes.

Potatoes (just visible in beds behind the greenhouse) are growing extremely well.
the French beans and sugar snap peas are very half hearted however, and I think that is due to the cold nights.

I love the beginnings of 'Harvest time'.

  3. Your garden is way ahead of mine. How lovely it is to go out and see what's been happening overnight, or over a week's time.

  7. This just makes me so anxious to get our garden planted! We will be working on our raised beds this weekend and then I start planting. The last frost date where we live isn't until the end of May, but we just can't wait so we will take the chance that this year we are done with the cold. Your garden is beautiful, I always plant a rim of marigolds around the tomatoes too, and I always enjoy the color and scent. What do you do with your gooseberries?

  9. Your tomatoes look so good. We plant marigolds with ours, too. Put probably not enough. Our potatoes were just coming on with nice green tops forming on the surface of the ground then it snowed. They look pretty sad; I am hoping that they come out of it. They should--we hope.

  10. What a wonderful start your garden is experiencing, Elizabeth. I love the variety of fruits and veg that you are growing along with all those beautiful flowers.

How I do long for a garden. Meanwhile, it's a true pleasure to vicariously enjoy yours. (Also doing vicarious weeding and offering other gardening help from across the Pond.)
