Yesterday I took my husband to the Cornwall School of Art, Craft and Jewellery. (shown below)
He had enrolled in a private class to do some Soapstone carving (prior to another stay at the Blind Veterans centre in Brighton).
The school covers many different craft classes, and he came away with a perfectly formed miniature Etruscan vase.
The only problem was that the place is way out in the wilds near Bodmin, and we got completely lost trying to find it.
While he was there I met a lady who often comments on my blog, but doesn't, as yet , have her own. She doesn't live far away so it was a good opportunity to meet. 'Rambler', and I went for a wander around Pencarrow House gardens.
The Azaleas and Rhododendrons were superb.
The house is still in private ownership.
We didn't go inside, but we did enjoy a very nice coffee and home made cake sitting in the garden.
Two of the gardeners were busy cleaning out the pond and fountain.
Since neither of us are good with being photographed I took this shot of Rambler, and her very good dog, making their way up the Azalea path.
I did enjoy the afternoon, and it was so nice to meet another blogger. We had plenty to talk about, and I'm hoping there will soon be a new blog announced!
Edit.
Rosie's Ramblings is up and running!

What beautiful grounds. I can imagine an outdoor afternoon coffee with a new friend would be lovely there.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely afternoon for both of you. Are we allowed to see a picture of the vase?? Pencarrow looks lovely, and how super to meet up with a blogfriend! My own experience of such meetings has thus far been 100% positive. Blessings xx
ReplyDeleteHow nice to ramble with another blogger!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great blog name Rambler already has! So glad you enjoyed visiting whilst walking through the gardens. (Canadians don't say whilst, but I think it's fun to use once in a while.)
ReplyDeletePencarrow House and gardens look beautiful and very well maintained!
ReplyDeleteHow nice to meet one of your followers and enjoy time in that Garden together.
I've just met another blogger whom I follow too, it seems we bloggers are naturally outgoing and interested in meeting people.
Will look out for Ramblers blog then!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you had a very pleasant afternoon. I love 'Rambler's' name! I will watch for that blog.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice afternoon. Beautiful home and gardens!
ReplyDeleteMust have been lovely to meet Rambler too. Looking forward to another blog!
Enjoy your weekend ♥
My kind of fun, gardens this time of year are food for the soul. How fun to meet someone who comments!
ReplyDeleteA lovely day. Though the two workmen cleaning out the pond and fountain seem to be doing more standing about than actually working!! :) xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteObviously a deep discussion was going on!
DeleteI am still wondering how we ever managed to meet up that day. I was driving around in ever-increasing circles, getting more and more panic-stricken, as the time of our meeting loomed - and passed! Typical of Cornwall, there were no signposts, no clues, no Post Code - aaaarrrggghhhh! Thank goodness for mobile phones, eh?
ReplyDeleteYes, our paths eventually converged and we gratefully staggered into Pencarrow's Peacock Tearoom for a very welcome coffee and cake.
Elizabeth, it was lovely to meet you and your husband and well worth the mystery tour. As for my blog . . . it could take a while; I need a 4-year-old to sort out the technicalities.
Your 4 year old obviously obliged! Your blog is super.
DeleteLooks like a wonderful day. And meeting up with another blogger is always fun.
ReplyDeleteElizabeth, how wonderful to have such an art school nearby. I feel sure that you and your husband will be returning there.
ReplyDeleteAlso rather wonderful to meet Rambler and to be able to enjoy those beautiful gardens and some refreshments...and lots of chatting, too.
Rambler...please do begin your own blog. I started blogging about the same time as Elizabeth, and we've been enjoying sharing views and comments from two sides of the Atlantic for many years.
xo
My blog is up and running and any teething problems will hopefully be ironed out as the days go by. Such lovely, encouraging comments here and I look forward to having my very own 'followers' in time.
DeleteMy thanks to Elizabeth for her initial encouragement and for helpful advice since then.
http://liskerret.blogspot.co.uk/ Here's to more rambling!
This garden is lovely! I'm off to read a new blog ;)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a wonderful day. I love the pictures! Have a blessed day, Barbara!
ReplyDeleteLooks very pleasant for eyes greenish every where...
ReplyDeleteHow fabulous to meet another blogger. I had that happen a few years ago and it was and is, very exciting. What a lovely place and your pics are amazing dear lady. I am going over to visit the new blog.
ReplyDeleteLove you.xoxo
Oh, how lovely!! This sounds like the most perfect day. I'm so glad you met another blogger and that you two had such an enjoyable; in my dreams I imagine spending such a day with you. Wouldn't that be so fun?
ReplyDeleteLots of blessings to you!
p.s. Thank you for following me over to my new blog; I know that it is hard transitioning over to a new platform and so I really appreciate you sticking with me! :) You are a blessing to me!
Thank you Frannie!
DeleteThank you Frannie!
