On a beautifully sunny Easter morning we were so pleased to be able to go to our local Church for the service. Access has been virtually impossible with a wheelchair, but new ramps have been put in, a disabled parking area made...and even someone to help wheel down the steep path.
This is such a pretty country church, set amongst fields, primroses flowering all around.
The service was super, and the sun poured in through the windows , highlighting the vases of daffodils.
The vicar, doing his child related thing, invited four or five little ones to help him open some Easter eggs. They were empty.
'I wonder if you can tell me why they are empty' he asked ( connection here to the empty tomb, maybe)
'Because', said one little girl confidently, 'the Easter bunny ate the chocolate'.
Of course.
Our second stop of the day was this lovely old building in Truro, once a Convent and now a Hotel. Here we had a delightful lunch, tables prettily set in yellow and white, with vases of daffodils on each one.
The sunshine made for a perfect Easter Sunday.

Easter perfection - blue skies, primroses, daffodils, lovely village church, children with chocolate, luncheon at a beautiful historic site. . . . . . and thankful for assistance with wheelchair challenges.
ReplyDeleteGlad your day went so well - enjoy the entire week dear friend.
Hugs - Mary

ReplyDeleteSounds wonderful! I'd love to snoop around that old convent/hotel!
ReplyDeleteThat looks a perfect Easter Sunday - a beautiful church (and a child to sabotage the sermon), glorious weather and a wonderful lunch cooked by someone else. Perfect bliss!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like the absolute best Easter Sunday. Beautiful old church.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful day. Wishes for a sunny week ahead.
ReplyDeleteThe church is charming. I'm glad to read you had a nice day. It was sunny here as well.
ReplyDeleteThat has been a good Easter day for you, lovely!
ReplyDeleteI love your old church, and it's so nice they have accommodations for wheelchairs now. It sounds like you had a lovely day. The weather here was lovely too!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you could manage the wheelchair for church and that it was lovely and such an interesting spot for lunch. I love Easter!
ReplyDeleteIt is so difficult to make such old buildings accessible for all, but how great that your church has been able to achieve that! xx
ReplyDeleteThat's great that your church has been made wheel chair accessible. Sounds like a lovely day. x
ReplyDeleteWhat a delightful story! Somehow children always get the last word, don't they, no matter how carefully we grownunps plan! xoxox
ReplyDeleteWhat a charming church in which to worship on Easter Sunday. I'm glad you were able to make it out. The little girl's comment was cute. A lovely place for your lunch out.
ReplyDelete(*Smiling*) That is so cute how the little girl responded to the vicar about the empty egg! I love how kids think! The church is completely charming! I watch a lot of BBC shows here in the states and it reminds me so much of some I've seen on various tv series. So glad you had a lovely day, right down to a wonderful lunch! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteSo happy you were able to attend church together!
ReplyDeleteElizabeth, your Easter service in that beautiful church must have been beautifully spiritually uplifting, and also very amusing with the child's answer to the vicar's question.
ReplyDeleteHow grand to also have a fine lunch in another beautiful setting.
xo
It is lovely that you were both able to enjoy the Easter service and then lunch after in that beautiful building in Truro. Simple blessings for Easter Day, the best kind.
ReplyDeleteHow perfect. Our wheelchair-bound friend was also able to be taken to church for Easter, the first time in almost a year. So special!
ReplyDeletePerhaps we need to start a new tradition of leaving a carrot out for the Easter bunny so our chocolate stays safe! It is lovely to read that you have access to your church and can now be more physically a part of church life, accessing everything and feeling welcome. Really pleased for you both. Betty x
